Idaho
- At the northern tip of Idaho along the International Border you can view the worlds largest contiguous hops farm owned by Anheuser Busch and operated by Elk Mountain Farms. These hops are some of the hops supplied not only to this company but sought by many micro breweries. There is a scenic overlook of the hops fields close to the International Border at Porthill on SH 1. Montana
- For years, Montana's microbrewing community has been gaining steam and making a splash with great ales, lagers and pilsners. The state has a rich brewing history as the breweries and saloons of yesterday were often the only buildings large enough to play host to town meetings, dances, festivals, weddings and even church services. During the late 1800s, few states had more breweries and saloons per capita than Montana. Today, the tradition continues with more than award-winning, acclaimed breweries throughout the state. www.visitmt.com/experiences/food_and_beverage/breweries/
Oregon
- Oregon is home to 89 breweries and the second-largest producer of craft beer in the U.S. With hardy hops and barley, Oregon boasts dozens of brewpubs – including Bridgeport, Deschutes, McMenamins, Rogue, and Full Sail. Don’t forget that July is Oregon Craft Beer Month, with festivals and special tastings. www.oregoncraftbeermonth.com; www.oregonbrewfest.com
Washington
- The top five barley-producing counties in Washington are Whitman, Lincoln, Spokane, Garfield, and Columbia. Some 82 breweries currently operate in Washington. Most of them are small, craft breweries producing less than 10,000 barrels per year.
