Dubois, a Real Wyoming town

Rolling in to Dubois at the end of a long and busy day my traveling partners and I immediately felt welcome. The quiet main street with its traditional western buildings led us to our night’s accommodations at the historic Twin Pines Lodge & Cabins. The cozy cabins were exactly what we’d hoped for; clean, comfortable and CUTE!
We dropped our bags and headed across the street to the KOA Campground – not to spread our bedrolls on the ground, but to enjoy their twice a week Chuckwagon Supper, complete with live entertainment. Music and meal were great.
The community of Dubois works together to provide some type of activity every evening in the summer, from educational talks at the Museum to lively rodeos or these fun cookouts. Area history is fascinating and well explained at the Dubois Museum and the National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center next door. Stop in to learn about the Sheepeaters and the Tie Hacks!
Morning brought a chance to stroll the unique downtown boardwalk which is branded with the names of supporting local individuals and businesses. A hearty breakfast at the Cowboy Café and we were ready to hit the road for our next adventure, well rested and ready to come back when we could spend more time in the genuine town of Dubois, Wyoming.
