Lamar Valley Cabin
Lamar Valley Cabin is a newly constructed, beautifully furnished one room cabin which sleeps four. Downstairs there is a large lodgepole queen bed, a full kitchen with oven and refrigerator, and full bath with shower, a dining table, and a wonderfully comfortable leather reclining chair. Upstairs in the loft are two single beds. We use only non-toxic, green products when we clean. In the building process we took every measure available to us to build “green” and in a sustainable, sensitive manner. We used highly efficient insulated concrete blocks for the foundation, and we foam insulated the exterior walls, achieving a very energy efficient, airtight structure. All of the interior woodwork came from the overstock from local construction projects. We finished the all of the woodwork with zero VOC finishes, and the paint on the wall is also a zero VOC product. All tiles in the kitchen and bath were purchased from our local Habitat for Humanity thrift store, as was our beautiful kitchen sink. Our hot water is “on-demand”, heating the water only as needed. We utilized a local mill for our exterior and interior siding, and the wood came from the trees, which were taken down as our local road was widened in 2009.
