Travelers' Rest State Park

Travelers' Rest State Park marks the location of a centuries-old Native American campsite that Lewis and Clark used in 1805 and 1806.

Located just eight miles south of Missoula, this National Historic Landmark is the only archeologically verified campsite of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in the nation. The exact location of their campsite was validated through a unique archeological investigation completed in 2002. Located at an ancient crossroads of commerce and culture, Travelers Rest embraces the cross-cultural history that has shaped the Bitterroot and Missoula valleys. Bisected by Lolo Creek, Travelers Rest State Park is also an idyllic spot for a short stroll and offers rich bird habitat, with more than 115 species recorded in the park boundaries. A museum on site hosts exhibits, book sales, and staff who conduct guided walks and educational programs throughout the year. View more details: http://www.travelersrest.org/
