Land of the Yankee Fork Interpretive Center

The Land of the Yankee Fork Interpretive Center commemorates Idaho’s frontier mining history. The center reflects the mining heritage of the area with museum exhibits, a gold-panning station, audiovisual programs, and park staff who provide information about local mining history, the Custer Motorway Adventure Road, and area attractions. Visitors can experience a trail of discovery back in the time with audiovisual programs and mining displays. Nearby along SH-75 is the Challis Bison Jump Site, placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The center, operated by the Idaho Parks and Recreation Department, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, 7 days a week May 1st through September 30th, while winter hours are Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call (208) 879-5244 for current information about the Custer Motorway Adventure Road and special events. More information is available at www.idahoparks.org.
