Beautiful Fall Colors on Hells Canyon Scenic Byway

I recently had the pleasure of driving a portion of the Hells Canyon National Scenic Byway in Oregon. The fall colors were absolutely stunning! Warm rusty red thorn buses, melting down into the Snake River's edge, set off with bright yellow cottonwood trees and orange willow leaves. I ventured to the higher elevations near Halfway, Oregon to visit Cornucopia Lodge for a fabulous lunch, passing fat cattle under century-old apple trees. The tamaracks were also starting their annual needle loss, and were turning a bright yellow, highlighted against the evergreen tree backdrop. A wonderful fall outing, with color, great food, friendly people, and charming accommodations.
